残業

Hi everybody ( ＾_＾)/ How was your day? 

Mine was not so good because two of my favorite students had to cancel their lesson reservations today (T_T) 

And one student said, “I have to overwork.” That’s a very common mistake! I guess in junior high school you learned 残業 = overwork. “I have to overwork”ってジャパニーズイングリッシュだから中学生の時に 「残業 = overwork」 を習ったでしょー？

Well…「残業 = overwork」ではないから中学生の時の単語帳を捨てて今日はシンプルで、役に立つ Real English を練習しましょう。

▼ Let’s practice these phrases:

・I have to work overtime. (残業しなくちゃいけない。)

・I worked overtime every day last week. (先週毎日残業した。)

・I don’t wanna work overtime tonight. (今夜残業したくない。)

けど 「残業」という意味ではなく、「働きすぎ」という意味の名詞です。　For example…

I’m exhausted from overwork. (仕事し過ぎてくたくたですよ。)
