楽しかったって英語でなんて言うの？

Hi everybody. Let`s learn some very simple but very, very useful phrases today.

There are basically two ways to say 「楽しかった」 in English:

① I had fun.

And…

② It was fun.

Yesterday in class one of my best and newest (and nicest!) students said, “I was fun.” I`ve been teaching English to non-native speakers of English for over 15 years so I`ve heard this many, many times. But “I was fun” is not real English. Also, “I enjoyed” is not Real English. “I was fun” と “I enjoyed” はジャパニーズイングリッシュです。 “Enjoy” は命令形じゃない場合は必ず目的語も必要があります。 So here are some more examples of Real English: 

“I enjoyed the lesson” は正しい文章です。 “I enjoyed” は命令形ではないし、目的語が付いてないからちょっと変です。 It is Japanese English. So…英語のレッスンの終了後に先生に “How was the class?” って聞かれたらなんて言えばいいのでしょうか？？？

It was fun! (←Good! This is Real English.)

Or…

I had fun! (This is a good sentence, too!)

Or…

I enjoyed it! (目的語の “it” が付いているからこれも Real English です。)

Please practice and master all these simple phrases. Your English will sound much better if you do! And by the way…さっき 「”Enjoy” は命令形じゃない場合は必ず目的語が必要です」って言ったよね? 　もし “Enjoy” を命令として使ったら目的語があってもなくてもかまいません。例えば、友達にビールを渡す時に “Enjoy your beer” って言ってもいいし、ただの “Enjoy” っ言っても全然変じゃないし。　”Enjoy” is a complete sentence! 命令形は一番簡単な文法ですよね？　一つの動詞だけで正確な文章を作れます。
